Everyday I hope to inspire someone. Whether it be my kids or that one person reading my Facebook posts. I want to make an impact in some way. The one person that continues to inspire me is my sister, Divina (I call her Ate Vi) She is the one who I look up to and ask advice from. She’s always been there for me and I love her so much!
In November 1993, my father Domingo passed away from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. After that, my sister became devoted to becoming a nurse and now works as a pediatric oncology nurse with Kaiser.
On March 9, 2014, my sister is going to participate in the Los Angeles Marathon. She’s been training for this moment for quite some time and had her first run with her Team in Training running group. She is really close to her goal in raising $1800! If you’re feeling up to donating to a wonderful cause and supporting my sister, this would be the time! I thank you so much in advance.
This is quoted from her Team in Training page:
Hi Friends and Family!
As you all know, one of my passions is running, another is how much I love being a pediatric oncology nurse. I’m combining my 2 passions as I participate in the LA Marathon on March 9, 2014 with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Societys Team in Training this year. I’m so excited and passionate about this, but I need your help! Be part of my team this year! My dad passed away 20 years ago from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, so this is very near and dear to my heart. Thank you my dear friends and family from the bottom of my heart.
Teams are made up of individuals. Without them, there is no team.
I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in a sports endurance event as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.
Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures.
