Now-a-days, I don’t have the time or funds to visit the salon so lucky for me, I have the good ol’ internet to keep me distracted. Because of my urge to cut my hair all the time, my hair has stayed at shoulder length for as long as I can remember. Perhaps I’ll make it a resolution in 2012 to let it grow out so I can put my hair in a cute sock bun or braid it all kinds of cute ways.

I thought I was going to have a more deep end of the year post full of inspiration and words of wisdom, but I guess not. I’ll save that for next year :)

My cousin and her husband recently bought their first home and I paced back and forth to figure out what to get them as a housewarming gift. After a while of imaginative thinking, I thought of course! An address stamp. So that’s what I gave them, a custom designed (by yours truly) rubber stamp.

So… if you’re stumped on what to give as gift, why not a custom address stamp from double-sided tape! I still have to list it in my etsy shop, but if you’re interested now, leave a comment here and I’ll fill you in on how to order one.

I can totally say that I’m a proud mama and it was for sure a surreal moment for me. I didn’t cry and I wasn’t emotional and I’m still trying to let it all sink in. (That I have a kid in school!) I took a few pictures of her before we left. My baby isn’t a baby anymore!!!

I also downloaded this cool form designed by Silverbox Creative. When I saw this I knew I had to use it and it’ll make a cool addition to Michaela’s scrapbook. You can download your own here!

Chinatown :: L.A.

I love 3 day weekends. Who doesn’t? Labor Day weekend was always a time for us to get away to Vegas or have a bbq with the family. However, this weekend was really mellow and we decided to go to L.A. and hangout in Chinatown for the afternoon. It’s been a while since I’ve been out here and with the new baby it’s a bigger challenge these days. My Mia cannot stand being in her car seat and let alone in the car. So all the way there, we had to endure the melodious crying tones. ALL THE WAY THERE. I think I tuned her out when we halfway to L.A.

Like I said, it was a pretty mellow afternoon. We lunched at Philippe’s and had my usual french dip roast beef with potato salad and lemonade. Then we just walked around Chinatown and bought some cookies and egg custard from the Phoenix Bakery. I was hoping to check out The Flock Shop, but I kept forgetting it was Monday and they’re not open on Mondays.

I would’ve taken more pictures if I had my camera with me. It’s just too much with the newbie and stroller and baby bag and etc.. Next time!

Tomorrow we’re attending a meet and greet and next week is the first day of school! I don’t know who’s more excited, me or her. Granted she’s super anti-social, but I have faith that she’ll do awesome!

I always loved getting ready for the first day of school. Especially the part when we get to go to Staples and get school supplies. I was all about the Esprit backpack and pee-chee folders, but if were to do it all over again, I would be sure to get these things…

When I was younger my family moved around a lot because of my dad’s job. We even lived in Italy for 3 years! Since that was the time before the internet, in order to keep in touch w/my cousins who were back in California, we wrote letters to each other. 3 years is a long time to be away from family, so I looked forward to their letters. I can’t even begin to remember what we even wrote to each other. We were between 5 and 7 years old at the time, but I remember my cousin Jamie sent me a stick of gum once. It was just cool to know that there was something to look forward to when I got home from school. How crazy would that be if I would have saved those letters!

I was always fond of writing letters. My friends and I would write the occasional note to each other and slip it into  our lockers in between periods. And then there was my friend Chanda whose handwriting is as awesome as mine :) (hee-hee) I almost believe that it became a competition on who had more awesome letters! I saved those letters until we moved from our Walnut house which was in the late 90′s. I had them in a box that built in Wood Shop.

So why all this talk about Pen Pals? I came across this tweet from Crane & Co and it sparked up my nostalgia and love for correspondence. They’re even having a little contest where if you write them a letter they’ll write you back and you’ll be entered to win some goodies!

Mia Joy

The last time I left you I was pregnant and in the midst of all of my stuff while we were moving into a new apartment. Don’t worry I didn’t do any heavy lifting. I pretty much took it easy while the boys did the heavy moving. The next morning, surprise surprise! I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and we named her Mia Joy. It was definitely an unexpected weekend of events!

I’ll spare all the details of my fabulous labor and pains and all that good stuff.

So without further ado, I am proud to announce the birth of the 4th member of our family, Mia Joy Gestoso Greenlee! Born July 18, 2011 at 8:56am. 6 lbs 3 oz, 18 inches.

Today is the first day of moving. We’re upgrading to a 2 bedroom apartment because our family is growing! Yup, I have a bun in the oven and I’m due in less than 3 weeks. So with the help of my family (thank you soooo much!!!) I’m able to take it easy and relax. The last thing we need right now is Mike rushing me to the hospital and leaving my brother in law & brother to move all our stuff!

As much as I wanted to move to a more fancy apartment complex, we opted to stay in the same building we’ve been in. It’s literally across the way from our current apartment and it’s close to the in-laws. It just works out better that way. I’m excited about getting Michaela and Mia’s (that’s what we decided to name the new baby) room ready and actually decorating the apartment this time around. Our current apartment was one hot mess!

I’ve been scouring the blogs and I’m so drawn to grey and yellow. I’ve pinned a few rooms that inspire me and I am determined to find a chevron rug.
